Attention:
There exist a Interim Fix for 8.5 which solved the following problem:
User Rename and User Delete will fail to update group membership except in the rare case where the renamed/deleted user is also listed in the LocalAdmin field for the group. This fix is needed only on 8.5 servers running adminp and is a regression introduced in Release 8.5.
The fix is available on Fix Central.
Advice:
Use a pre-8.5 server to do User Rename and User Delete functions, or apply the fix for spr JPAI7MFS69 to the 8.5 server.
